F: There seems to be a lot of confusion about this. I too wondered about it – so I did a little research.
Mahi-Mahi is Hawaiian for dolphin-fish. They are not related to the Delphinidae family of mammals, which is also called dolphin, ie., Flipper.
Mahi-Mahi is a fish that has a compressed body and a long dorsal fin that extends the length of their bodies. Completely unlike our beloved dolphin - so dolphin lovers can rest easy!
